The number of 18u AA teams is determined by the number of players registered. These teams typically interlock with nearby Interior and Okanangan teams to create a 'league' and give teams the opportunity to play games. A practice schedule for 18u AA team(s) will be determined after registration closes in February.
18U GENERAL INFORMATION
Spring Season (18U AAA/College Prep): The 18U AAA and College Prep teams are KMBA's elite programs for Midget age players. They play in a single season league against teams from across the Province. Teams are decided by tryouts and on field games start early spring. Please see High Performance communication for up to date information, expectations and requirements.
Spring Season (18AA): KMBA will form teams based on the number of players registered. In the past this has ranged from 2-3 teams each year. The teams will be balanced and play in the Okanagan Interlock League. Games are normally on the weekends with double headers starting at the end of April and travel is usually balanced between an even number of home and away games in the Okanagan.
Summer Baseball (18AA): The 18U AA summer head coach will evaluate players in the spring and identify those players interested in playing competitively by their skill level and interest. These players will then get additional practice time during the week or potentially play a game against a local men's team.
In June tryouts will be held for any player that is interested in playing summer baseball. This team does incur additional fees for a uniform kit, tournament costs, coach travel, etc. The team will play through the month of July and early August.
Fall Baseball (September - October): Fall baseball is comprised of players who will be entering the division in the following year as well as players who will be moving into their second year.
Programming consists of the practices/training only. While we make every effort to allow for some game play for all players, by registering for Fall Ball you understand that any game play is not guaranteed, it is the coach's discretion of who is selected to participate.
Winter Baseball (January - March): Winterball is run in our first class indoor training facility: Sussex Insurance Centre on McArthur Island. Winterball is designed to offer the players instruction on many of the fundamentals that can get lost in the busy Spring Season. Winterball is an important program for players who wish to try out for the single-season team.
